Job summary

SCA Health is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the PreOp PACU role in Maryland. The position involves assessing patients preoperatively and postoperatively, coordinating the perianesthesia plan of care, and supporting safe recovery from anesthesia across multiple modalities.

You will interpret monitors, manage pain and comfort, and collaborate with the care team to ensure high-quality perioperative care while upholding our mission and core values.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and valid state licensure.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
• Medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
• Current BLS or BCLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required within 90 days of employment.
• PALS certification required if pediatric care is included in the facility scope services.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA Health.
• Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status according to policies to include cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, hemodynamic, pain and mental status.
• Interpret information from monitors and describe the underlying pathophysiology of disease processes.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Implement the plan including recovery from anesthesia across various modalities and ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Provide hand-off reports to teammates and collaborate effectively with the team.
• Protect patient rights, dignity and privacy, and ensure infection prevention.
