Job summary

SCA Health in San Diego, CA, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for PreOp PACU to support perioperative care across the pre- and post-anesthesia continuum. You will assess patients, monitor vital functions, and collaborate with anesthesia and surgical teams to ensure safe and effective recovery.

The role requires an accredited nursing credential, at least one year in preop or PACU, and current licensure with ACLS; PALS if pediatric care is involved.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
• Medical / surgical nursing experience.
• Current state licensure to practice within good standing; BLS/BCLS certification required.
• ACLS certification within 90 days; PALS if pediatric care is included.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA Health.
• Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status according to facility policies across multiple systems.
• Interpret information from noninvasive and invasive monitors.
• Describe pathophysiology of common diseases and physiology of anesthesia techniques.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care and implement it.
• Prepare for and manage patient recovery from anesthesia across general, MAC, regional, and local techniques.
• Protect patient from injury, communicate status, and provide pain management as needed.
• Administer medications safely using the 8 rights and document care accurately.
• Transfer care and provide hand-off reports; collaborate with the care team.
• Maintain patient rights, dignity, privacy and provide ethical, culturally competent care.
