Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a proactive Preconstruction Project Manager to bridge design and construction across multiple U.S. locations with up to 50% travel.

The role partners with design, procurement and construction teams to plan work, manage budgets, and mitigate risks from early design through construction. Ideal candidates bring a 5+ year track record in industrial/commercial construction, strong communication and leadership, and expertise in 3D modelling and sequencing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or equivalent degree; or equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree
• 5+ years experience in managing construction projects related to industrial and/or commercial facilities
• Experience with 3D Modelling software
• Field Construction Experience on active construction projects
• Effective communication and leadership skills
• Experience optimizing construction scheduling and sequencing
• Ability and willingness to travel to support project and client needs during planning, design, procurement and early construction phases. Travel requirements will vary based on project needs and may be up to 50% of working time, including extended periods at client sites, construction sites, fabrication facilities and project offices throughout North America.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment while supporting project teams and stakeholders located across multiple time zones.

Responsibilities

• Support the preconstruction team on various assigned tasks involved in preconstruction planning deliverables including bid package development, scheduling, estimating, virtual design and construction modeling, and reporting
• Participate as a key contributor and knowledge base for the overall design constructability and sequencing plan
• Drive collaboration between various stakeholders
• Know Client Expectations and Manage Client Interface
• Lead planning efforts including strategy development, and execution with design, procurement and construction management teams to ensure efficient and timely flow of information
• Conduct constructability reviews during all phases of design to include the appropriate construction and trade resources for synchronized reviews.
• Support the review of modularization and off-site manufacturing studies
• Support estimate and schedule development and recommend opportunities for optimization based on previous experience, and value driven solutions
• Develop subcontracting and procurement strategies in collaboration with the construction management and procurement teams
• Support the development of 4-D visualizations
• Develop thorough site logistics plans including utility, offsite or other requirements
• Coordinate with Jacobs safety, quality, project services and technical services groups to ensure a comprehensive preconstruction planning process
• Prepare and Maintain Risk Registers and Mitigation Plans
• Work to build a cooperative partnership between the client, contractor and all stakeholders to ensure a timely resolution of project issues and the overall success of the project.
