Job summary

RON SUNSHINE ASSOCIATES LLC is assisting Hastings, Michigan-based manufacturing client in hiring a Toolmaker. The role focuses on building, repairing, and maintaining precision tooling for high-volume production, including dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures.

You will read engineering drawings, set up manual and CNC tool room equipment, and ensure tight tolerances and quality workmanship. The position offers $33.00–$38.00 per hour DOE with shift premiums, full-time direct-hire, and a comprehensive

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Tool & Die or Toolmaker Apprenticeship or 4+ years Toolmaker experience.
• Experience as Toolmaker, Tool & Die Maker, or similar role.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, CAD prints, specs.
• Experience operating manual and CNC tool room equipment.
• Proficient with precision measuring instruments.
• Strong troubleshooting and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, modify, and maintain precision tooling for high-volume manufacturing.
• Interpret drawings, blueprints, CAD prints, and specifications to plan methods.
• Set up, operate, and maintain mills, lathes, drills, grinders, and CNC tools.
• Perform precision surface grinding and complex component machining.
• Assemble tooling, inspect dimensions, and verify tolerances.
• Diagnose tooling failures and implement repairs to minimise downtime.
• Maintain clean, organized, safe Tool Room and support safety procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives in the Tool Room.
