Job summary

Accounting Search is assisting a global manufacturing client in Hastings, Michigan to hire a Toolmaker to build, repair, and maintain precision tooling for high-volume production. This role demands reading engineering drawings, setting up mills and lathes, and ensuring tight tolerances.

You will join a modern Tool Room with opportunities for long-term career progression, competitive benefits, and shift options on 2nd and 3rd shifts. Rate is $33.00-$38.00 per hour DOE plus shift premiums.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; relevant industrial experience is a plus.
• Completion of a recognized Tool & Die or Toolmaker Apprenticeship with minimum 4 years' experience, or 8+ years in tooling.
• Experience reading engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD prints, and technical docs.
• Experience operating manual machine tools and CNC Tool Room equipment.
• Proficient with precision measuring instruments and maintaining tight tolerances.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, modify, and maintain precision tooling used in high-volume manufacturing.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD prints, and specs to determine machining methods and materials.
• Plan and perform precision machining, bench work, fitting, assembly, and finishing of tooling components.
• Set up, operate, and maintain mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, and CNC Tool Room equipment.
• Perform surface grinding to achieve required dimensions and finishes.
• Inspect tooling and machined parts for compliance with drawings and specs.
• Diagnose tooling failures and implement repairs to minimise downtime.
