Job summary

Sun Recruiting, Inc. is seeking Toolmakers for our Hastings, Michigan client, a global manufacturing leader with a century of experience.

You will build, repair, modify, and maintain precision tooling, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures in a modern Tool Room environment. Responsibilities include interpreting drawings, planning precision machining, setting up manual and CNC tools, performing surface grinding, assembly, inspection, and preventative maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with toolmaking apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
• 4 years Toolmaker experience or 8 years progressive toolmaking in manufacturing.
• Experience building/repairing dies, molds, fixtures, and precision tooling.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD prints and specs.
• Proficient with precision measuring instruments and tight tolerances.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, modify, and maintain precision tooling for high-volume manufacturing.
• Interpret drawings and determine machining methods, material needs, sequences.
• Plan precision machining, bench work, fitting, and finishing tooling components.
• Set up and operate manual and CNC tool room equipment.
• Perform precision surface grinding and inspect tooling components.
• Assemble tooling and verify dimensions, alignment, and function.
• Diagnose tooling failures and perform preventative maintenance.
