Job summary

Food Management Search, Inc. is seeking a skilled Toolmaker to join a Hastings, Michigan, manufacturing facility. The role focuses on building, repairing, and maintaining precision tooling for high-volume production, interpreting drawings, and ensuring tight tolerances.

You'll work with manual and CNC tool room equipment, contribute to tooling reliability, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Competitive hourly rate of $33–$38 with shift premiums and full-time benefits.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD prints, and specs to determine machining methods.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, modify, and maintain precision tooling including dies, molds, jigs and fixtures.
• Interpret drawings and set up machining sequences to meet tight tolerances.
• Operate manual milling, turning, drilling, grinding and CNC Tool Room equipment.
• Perform precision surface grinding and assembly of tooling components.
• Inspect tooling and machined components against drawings and specs.
• Diagnose tooling failures and implement repairs to minimise downtime.
