Job summary

Our client in Hastings, Michigan is seeking an experienced Toolmaker to build, repair, and maintain precision tooling for high-volume manufacturing. You will interpret drawings, set up manual and CNC tools, and ensure tight tolerances while supporting safety and continuous improvement.

The role offers 2nd and 3rd shift options, a direct-hire path, and competitive pay of $33.00–$38.00 per hour DOE plus shift premiums, with strong benefits and career advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Tool & Die or Toolmaker Apprenticeship.
• Minimum 4 years Toolmaker experience, or 8 years progressive Toolmaker experience in manufacturing.
• Experience building and repairing dies, molds, fixtures, and precision tooling.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD prints, and technical documentation.
• Experience operating manual machine tools and CNC Tool Room equipment.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, modify, and maintain precision tooling for high-volume manufacturing.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD prints, and specs to plan machining.
• Set up and operate mills, lathes, drills, grinders, and CNC Tool Room equipment.
• Inspect tooling and machined components for conformance with drawings and specs.
• Diagnose tooling failures and implement repairs to minimise downtime.
• Maintain a clean, safe Tool Room and support continuous improvement.
