Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist for the Moody, AL facility. This 2nd shift role runs Monday–Thursday, 8:00 PM–6:00 AM and is based 100% onsite.

Candidates will perform setup and operation of large lathes and milling equipment to repair and overhaul vacuum pumps and compressors, reading blueprints, and maintaining tight tolerances. The position offers a $3,500 sign-on bonus payable over 24 months for eligible hires and a $3.00/hour shift differential for second shift staff,

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/machinist.
• 2+ years reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ year operating King-style boring mills and/or vertical turning lathes (VTLs).

Responsibilities

• Performs set ups of large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operations of large Vertical & Horizontal Lathes used to repair and overhaul Large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps & Compressors.
• Interprets blueprints/drawings to determine critical dimensions and tolerances.
• Reads micrometers, verniers, dial indicators and other precision measuring tools to ensure quality.
• Selects appropriate cutting tools and determines speeds and feeds for surface finish.
• Overtime required; some weekends; safe operation of forklift and overhead crane.
• Lifting and rigging of heavy components; assists in disassembly and rebuilding of pumps.
