Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear, Inc. is seeking a Machine Operator for 2nd shift to set up and operate machining equipment, inspect parts, and ensure quality.

You will follow process sheets, use measuring tools, and maintain a clean, safe work area while collaborating with the team to optimize throughput. This role requires basic machining knowledge, the ability to read English instructions, and physical stamina to stand and lift as needed in a non-climate-controlled shop.

Qualifications

• Requires average math skills and ability to read and follow English instructions.
• Physically able to handle heavy items and stand for an entire shift in a non-climate-controlled shop.
• Must follow scheduled hours, timekeeping policy, and company policies.
• Ability to learn fundamental machining concepts and use measuring devices.
• Work closely with supervisors and teammates to optimize production processes.
• Attention to detail is essential for quality and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Follow production instructions from process sheets, blueprints, or verbal directions.
• Install machine fixtures such as dies, punches, or blades to ensure safe operation.
• Set up and operate lathes, mills, drills, presses, and CNC machines per specs.
• Inspect finished products with calipers, micrometers, and gauges for tolerances.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness, use PPE, and follow crane or buddy-system guidelines.
• Perform other duties as needed to support production.
