Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) - Pre Procedure Phase II in the Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU). The ASU is a 28-bed surgery prep unit and a 32-bed outpatient unit for pre and postoperative care across age groups.

Under the ASUNurse Manager, you will perform pre-admission assessments, collect medical histories, coordinate with anesthesia, and deliver direct patient care across age groups, aligning with Mercy standards and policies.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Current RN license in the state of practice
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
• Strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Assessment with the patient prior to admission via a phone interview or in person
• Collects the patients' medical history from previous medical records
• Works closely with the anesthesia department in coordinating the patient's needs
• Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups
• Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care for patients in accordance with the plan of care, established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care
• Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards
