Job summary

UConn Health Waterbury is seeking a Practice Manager to lead day-to-day operations for Pediatrics, Neurology, and Rheumatology practices and to support high-quality patient-centered care.

Reporting to the Vice President of Physician Practices, the role includes staff management, financial performance oversight, patient and employee satisfaction, and EMR responsibilities to ensure efficient, compliant operations.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the financial operations of a medical practice.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical information, healthcare operations, and electronic medical record systems.
• Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills.
• Ability to communicate with physicians, providers, staff and patients.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and needs.
• Previous medical practice or healthcare management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the medical office for multiple practices within budget guidelines.
• Monitor financial operations including deposits, expenses, and financial reporting.
• Lead staff management activities including hiring, payroll, performance reviews, coaching and disciplinary actions.
• Monitor employee and patient satisfaction and staff turnover.
• Maintain practice standards set by leadership.
• Plan and run regular staff and provider meetings to ensure effective communication.
• Oversee EMR functions including scheduling, maintenance, training, and reporting errors.
• Coordinate hardware maintenance, upkeep, and inventory for locations.
• Foster a collaborative, patient-focused environment while ensuring efficient operations.
