Job summary

Amazon is seeking an experienced Power & Hardware Design Engineer to set technical standards for power distribution and hardware within its global fulfillment network. The role focuses on safety, scalability, and operational excellence across material handling systems, collaborating with WWDE and cross-functional teams.

You will develop and standardize power system strategies, specify MDBs/PDPs/substations, and drive hardware development for robust, maintainable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent required.
• 4+ years in power systems design, electrical engineering, or hardware development.
• Experience in 3-phase power design and distribution for large facilities.
• Proficiency in MDBs, PDPs, and electrical substation design.
• Arc flash calculations per IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70E required.
• Load calculations and A/E drawing set prep using CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize 3-phase power systems and distribution for material handling.
• Specify MDBs, PDPs, and substations with proper sizing and protection coordination.
• Create single-line diagrams and panel schedules supporting power needs.
• Perform arc flash, fault current, and coordination studies for safety.
• Develop and maintain arc flash labeling programs across facilities.
• Prepare electrical standards and A/E drawings in collaboration with teams.
• Lead design reviews and mentor junior engineers in power discipline.
• Ensure NEC/NFPA compliance and drive continuous improvement.
