Job summary

Amazon is seeking an experienced Power Systems Development Manager to serve as the technical authority for power systems, standards, and hardware engineering within its global fulfillment center network. This role leads standardization and innovation of power distribution and hardware solutions for material handling operations, focusing on safety, scalability, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Power Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years in power systems design, electrical engineering, and/or hardware development.
  • 5+ years in a management or leadership role, including people leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and specification of MDBs, PDPs, and electrical substations.
  • Strong proficiency in electrical load calculations and preparation of A/E drawing sets using AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Design, engineer, and optimize 3‑phase power systems for material handling applications.
  • Specify MDBs, PDPs, and electrical substations with proper sizing and protection coordination.
  • Develop single-line diagrams, power distribution schematics, and panel schedules for facility power needs.
  • Perform power quality analyses, fault current studies, and coordination studies for reliability and safety.
  • Oversee transformer, switchgear, breakers, bus ducts, and distribution equipment selections.
  • Design modular and scalable power distribution systems prioritizing reliability and maintainability.
  • Establish best practices for panel placement, grounding, and safety circuit design.
  • Perform detailed electrical load calculations including demand factors and future capacity planning.
  • Develop arc flash labeling programs and ensure labeling is compliant with NFPA 70E and IEEE 1584.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and constructible designs and maintain documentation.
