Job summary
Amazon.com LLC - A03 is seeking an experienced Power & Hardware Design Engineer to standardize power distribution and hardware solutions for Amazon's material handling operations. You will drive engineering standards, develop MDBs and PDPs, and lead cross-functional initiatives across WWDE and Operations Engineering to ensure safety, reliability, and scalability.
The role emphasizes arc flash analysis, electrical standards, and hardware development for tote/parcel conveyance and sortation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
- 4+ years in power systems design and hardware development.
- Proven expertise in 3-phase power systems and distribution.
- Experience with arc flash calculations per IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70E.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical (2010+).
- Familiarity with NEC/NFPA 70 code requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize 3-phase power systems for material handling facilities.
- Develop MDBs, PDPs, and substations with proper protection coordination.
- Perform load, arc flash, and coordination studies.
- Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and civil teams on integrated designs.
- Lead design reviews and ensure code compliance and safety.
