Job summary

PNM is seeking a System Protection Engineer I–IV or Principal Engineer to perform complex protection engineering work for multiple Texas locations. Responsibilities include conducting short circuit and coordination studies, setting protection relays, and ensuring compliance with NERC and CIP standards in a high-voltage environment.

Position offers potential sign-on/relocation bonuses and 401(k) benefits. Experience with ASPEN Oneliner and CAPE is preferred; ABET-accredited degree required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Experience across engineering levels I–IV or Principal Engineer; PE license.
• Experience with short circuit studies and protective relay settings.

Responsibilities

• Perform short circuit, overcurrent and distance coordination studies using ASPEN Oneliner.
• Develop protective relay settings for new or existing projects to maintain reliability.
• Analyze system disturbances and propose mitigation per NERC PRC-004.
• Provide technical direction to field personnel and contractors.
