Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking a Plant Operator to ensure safe and efficient electricity and steam generation. You will operate and monitor power plant equipment, perform startups and shut downs, and respond to dispatcher orders.

The role includes maintaining logs, adhering to safety and LOTO procedures, and completing CRO qualification steps for progression within the program. This position may involve 24/7 shifts and on-site work at a power facility in Texas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• 0-3 years’ Plant Operator experience (or equivalent) in a power plant environment.
• Control Room Operator qualification card (required for CRO progression).
• Contingent on DOT drug screen and background checks; part of DOT Program.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, and monitor power plant equipment to maintain safe, efficient plant performance.
• In the control room, operate HMIs/panels to regulate turbines, generators, HRSGs, and auxiliary equipment, maintaining conditions.
• Perform plant startup/shutdown and load control; respond to dispatcher orders and emergencies to safeguard operations.
