Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking a Plant Operator to ensure safe and efficient generation of electricity. The role involves field and control-room operations, monitoring turbines, HRSGs, and auxiliary systems, plus startup/shutdown and load control.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, up to 3 years of plant experience, and must obtain the CRO qualification card. A pre-employment DOT drug screen and background check are required.

Qualifications

• 0-3 years plant operator experience in a power plant environment.
• Must complete the Control Room Operator qualification card.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor power plant equipment to maintain safe, efficient, and reliable performance.
• In the control room, operate HMIs/panels to regulate turbines, generators, HRSGs, and auxiliary equipment.
• Execute plant startup, shutdown, and load control; respond to dispatcher orders.
• Maintain CRO/shift logs and generate work requests for equipment repair as needed.
• Take samples and perform routine laboratory tests for plant processes; record data.
• Follow LOTO, safety guidelines, and communicate plant conditions clearly to supervision.
