Job summary

Dashiell Corporation, an operating unit of Quanta Services, is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to support a project team with civil and structural design tasks. You will gain hands-on experience under close supervision and develop practical understanding of engineering principles in a real-world setting.

Activities include supporting wind load calculations, learning to use the document management system, and traveling to project sites to observe substation construction and design processes.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university is required, a power focus is preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related work experience in the power field is preferred.
• Knowledge of steel and concrete design and basic structural analysis.

Responsibilities

• Work with a project team to create or modify all civil and structural design documents and drawings for a project, under direct supervision.
• Perform engineering support tasks such as wind load calculations and structural analysis, with minimal supervision.
• Learn and apply engineering standards including NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC and ACI.
• Spend time at job sites to gain hands-on knowledge and additional training in substation construction and design.
• Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments.
