Job summary

Tri-Valley Career Center is seeking a dependable Field Service Technician to support POS systems in the field across the Bay Area. You will perform on-site troubleshooting, installation, testing, and repair of POS hardware, troubleshooting connectivity, and coordinating with internal teams for software issues.

The role requires the ability to travel, lift up to 50 lbs, and maintain a valid California driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Strong troubleshooting mindset and willingness to learn.
• Comfortable working with computers, hardware, and basic networking concepts
• Ability to work independently in the field and manage daily service calls
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record
• Must be insurable and maintain driving eligibility

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test POS terminals, printers, scanners, payment devices, and related hardware
• Diagnose and resolve on-site hardware, connectivity, and basic network issues
• Replace or repair defective equipment as needed in the field
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine service at customer locations
• Coordinate with internal support for software or system-level issues while on site
• Document service work, issues, and resolutions accurately
• Maintain inventory of service parts and equipment
• Process RMA equipment, including testing returned devices, documenting failures, and coordinating replacements or repairs
• Travel throughout assigned service areas for installations, maintenance, and service calls
• Participate in occasional overtime and after-hours support when required
