Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. seeks a Plumbing Engineer-in-Training I to join our Plumbing Engineering team. You will assist with the design and analysis of plumbing and fire protection systems for healthcare, higher education, commercial, sports, and civic projects.

Working with experienced engineers, you will develop building systems that are efficient, code-compliant, and ready for licensure, while building the foundation for a professional engineering career.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Architectural, Civil engineering or related field.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification obtained or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• Strong interest in thermal and fluid systems and building engineering.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and analysis of plumbing and fire protection systems for various facilities.
• Develop plumbing construction documents, drawings, specifications, and calculations.
• Perform pipe sizing, fixture counts, system demand, and equipment selection calculations.
• Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, and other design software to develop building system layouts.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural, and civil teams.
• Review equipment submittals, shop drawings, and product data for code compliance.
• Conduct site visits and field observations to survey conditions and verify progress.
• Support project managers with documentation, schedules, and client deliverables.
