Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. is seeking a motivated Plumbing Engineer-in-Training (EIT) I to join our Plumbing Engineering team.

You will assist with the design and analysis of plumbing and fire protection systems for healthcare, higher education, commercial, sports and civic projects. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will develop innovative, code-compliant building systems while building the technical foundation needed for professional licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline as listed.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification obtained or achievable within six months.
• Interest in thermal and fluid systems and building engineering.
• Strong communication, analytical, and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist design of plumbing and fire protection systems for various facility types.
• Develop plumbing construction documents, drawings, specs, and calculations.
• Perform pipe sizing, fixture counts, system demand, pressure, and equipment selection calculations.
• Use Revit, AutoCAD, and other software to coordinate layouts.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural, and civil teams.
• Review submittals and shop drawings for code compliance.
• Conduct site visits and assist with issue resolution.
• Support project managers with documentation and client deliverables.
• Research applicable codes and standards to ensure compliant designs.
