Job summary

SSR is seeking a Plumbing Engineer-in-Training I to join our Plumbing Engineering team. You will assist with the design and analysis of plumbing and fire protection systems for a wide variety of facility types, including healthcare, higher education, commercial, sports, and civic projects.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you will develop innovative, efficient, and code-compliant building systems while building the technical foundation needed for professional licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Civil Engineering or related field.
• EIT certification obtained or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Strong interest in thermal and fluid systems and building engineering.
• Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design of domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, fuel gas, medical gas, fire sprinkler, and specialty plumbing systems.
• Support development of plumbing construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
• Perform engineering calculations related to pipe sizing, fixture counts, system demand, temperature/pressure, and equipment selection.
• Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, and other design software to develop and coordinate layouts.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural, and civil teams.
• Review equipment submittals, shop drawings, and product data for compliance with project requirements.
• Conduct site visits to survey existing conditions, verify installation progress and assist with issue resolution.
• Support project managers with documentation, schedules, and client deliverables.
• Research applicable codes, standards, and regulations to ensure compliant designs.
