Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (SSR) is seeking a Plumbing Engineer-in-Training (EIT) I to join our Plumbing Engineering team.

You will assist with design and analysis of plumbing and fire protection systems across healthcare, higher education, commercial, sports, and civic projects. Working with experienced engineers, you will develop documents, perform calculations, and coordinate with BIM tools like Revit and AutoCAD while pursuing professional licensure and growing your expertise in building

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification obtained or ability to obtain certification within six months of hire.
• Strong interest in thermal and fluid systems and building engineering.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and analysis of plumbing and fire protection systems.
• Support development of plumbing construction documents, specifications, and calculations.
• Perform engineering calculations related to pipe sizing, fixture counts, system demand, and equipment selection.
• Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, and coordinate building system layouts.
• Participate in interdisciplinary coordination with other engineering teams.
• Review equipment submittals, shop drawings, and product data for compliance.
• Conduct site visits and assist with issue resolution.
• Support project documentation and client deliverables.
• Research applicable codes and standards to ensure compliant designs.
