Job summary

Akamai Technologies is seeking a Platform Operations Engineer to own change safety in our Global Performance and Operations (GPO) Solutions. You will troubleshoot complex issues, improve processes, and collaborate across teams to reduce incidents triggered by network changes at scale.

Based in Cambridge, MA, you’ll join the Change Safety Deployment team and work 4:30pm–12:30am EST Monday through Friday in the Cambridge office, with FlexBase options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant related technical field or its equivalent.
• Experience administering, monitoring and resolving issues in a high availability platform environment.
• Experience with Linux/Unix systems and an understanding of SQL and scripting languages.
• Experience in network technologies and internet protocols such as TCP/IP, WAN and DNS.
• Team player able to collaborate, prioritize, and solve problems in an ever-changing environment.
• Excellent communication and written skills to articulate technical information to internal teams and customers.
• Must undergo or possess and maintain a USG Tier 3 background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in area of specialty
• Identifying and implementing process and efficiency improvements in favor of change safety
• Improving tools, alerts, documentations, and procedures in favor of change safety
• Maintaining positive relationships across the teams
• Collaborating with our global Change Safety Optimization team to maintain consistent workflows across the group
• Working 4:30pm - 12:30am Eastern Standard Time on Monday through Friday in the Cambridge, Massachusetts office
