Job summary

CSL Plasma center is hiring a Phlebotomist/Pheresis Technician to support blood product collection and donor care. You will perform venipuncture and manage pheresis procedures, ensuring donor safety and process efficiency in a compliant environment.

The role requires high school equivalence and at least 12 months in a medical setting. You will work with a team on donor flow, data entry, and safety protocols in a demanding setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum twelve (12) months experience in a medical or health care environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of venipuncture and pheresis procedures.
• Ability to monitor donors and respond to adverse events.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the efficient and effective collection of plasma from donors by performing venipuncture, monitoring the pheresis process and following SOPs.
• In compliance with SOPs, performs all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor set-up, donor monitoring and donor disconnect.
• In compliance with SOPs and FDA guidelines, performs venipuncture on donors to begin pheresis process.
• Evaluates vein performance of the donor to identify possible problems; makes necessary corrections to expedite donation time and ensure product quality and donor safety.
• Maintains alertness to any reaction by donors and assists with reactions or notifies appropriate staff.
• Uses PDA to record incidents during pheresis, such as machine alerts and donor adverse events.
• Verifies maintenance and responds to complex equipment alarms or donor issues.
• Troubleshoots equipment failures and creates incident documentation.
• Monitors donor flow on the donor floor to assure continuous turnover and alerts staff to issues.
• Collects arm samples or whole blood samples for testing.
• Ensures accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system.
• Maintains a clean, efficient work environment and follows HSE/OSHA policies.
• Maintains confidentiality of donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas; bilingual skills may be required.
