Job summary

CSL is seeking a Plasma Collection Technician to perform venipuncture and monitor the pheresis process in a donor center in Florida. You will conduct donor setup, monitoring, and disconnects in compliance with SOPs and FDA guidelines.

The role requires accurate data entry, equipment maintenance, and the ability to educate donors about the process and safety procedures. The position emphasizes donor safety, efficiency, and adherence to health, safety and environmental policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum twelve (12) months experience in a medical or health care environment preferred.
• California centers require state certification as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I or RN licensure.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the efficient and effective collection of plasma from donors by performing venipuncture, monitoring the pheresis process and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Perform all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor set-up, donor monitoring and donor disconnect.
• Venipuncture to begin pheresis process per SOPs and FDA guidelines.
• Evaluate vein performance and correct issues to expedite donation time and ensure product quality and donor safety.
• Educate donors on the donation process, screening tests, appointment system, fees, policies, nutrition and other pertinent information.
• Monitor donors for reactions and assist or notify staff as needed.
• Record incidents with PDA; document alarms, variances and adverse events.
• Calibrate and verify maintenance of equipment; respond to complex equipment alarms or donor issues.
• Troubleshoot equipment and document incidents; replace equipment as needed.
• Monitor donor flow to ensure continuous turnover; notify supervisor of flow issues.
• Collect arm or whole blood samples for testing and ensure accurate donor data entry in the donor information system.
• Understand hyperimmune program policies and maintain a clean, safe, organized work environment following HSE and OSHA policies.
• Maintain donor, personnel and center information confidentiality; may cross-train as needed.
• Bilingual skills may be required at the organization's discretion.
