Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including nursing education as required by state.
• Active state license/certification for EMT/Paramedic or RN/LPN per responsibilities.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and manage medical emergencies with center physician standing orders and donor transport as needed.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues and donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees where applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance.
• Possibility to serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent including nursing program per state requirements

State licensure/certification: EMT-B/EMT-A/EMT-I/EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN
