Job summary

Dow's Emulsions/Polymers production facility in Knoxville, TN has an opening for an Operations Performance Engineer. You will help the plant deliver maximum value through Environmental Health & Safety excellence, reliability, efficiency, and low cost, while partnering with Operations, Maintenance, EH&S and other functions to optimize performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering by January 2027 (Chemical or Mechanical preferred).
• Military experience at or above US E5 or Canadian PO2/Sergeant may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Experience in chemical production facilities is preferred.
• Experience in coatings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the operations team leveraging problem-solving skills and technical expertise.
• Elevate and apply knowledge of plant and technology referencing historical data and SMEs.
• Ensure MET is understood and process automation is used to optimize plant performance.
• Utilize MET and challenge MET applications when better solutions arise.
• Partner with experts to perform advanced troubleshooting and improve operating discipline.
• Diagnose and document root causes of asset utilization losses in the facility.
• Understand why procedure steps and precautions are needed and maintain strong field presence.
• Conduct daily review of logbook and alarm history to stay engaged with operations.
• Maintain, own, and review daily KPI trends to ensure optimum performance.
• Respond urgently to plant issues and emergencies.
• Act as unit technical expert during unplanned events and drive corrective actions.
• Provide leadership in plant Raw Material Efficiency, including yield or waste generation.
• Ensure compliance with plant operating permits and contribute to site integration.
