Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a detail-oriented receptionist/clerical assistant in Ohio to manage patient flow and registration, verify insurance, and handle payments. You will work with EMR systems, answer a multi-line phone system, and provide general clerical support across the office.

The role requires 1–2 years of healthcare front desk experience, strong computer skills, and excellent communication. Daily tasks include data entry, document handling, and ensuring smooth patient experiences.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1–2 years previous secretarial experience in health care or a medical office, or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of experience.
  • Strong computer knowledge and skills.
  • Experience or ability to use electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Ability to perform data entry and insurance verification.
  • Ability to answer and direct calls using a computerized multi-line phone system.
  • Organized, highly motivated, customer service oriented, and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide receptionist and clerical support to assure patient flow, comfort, and satisfaction.
  • Greet patients, initiate paperwork, complete registration, verify insurance, collect co-payments and outstanding balances, and establish payment plans.
  • Correct registration errors in electronic medical record work queues.
  • Process insurance paperwork and obtain pre-authorizations when necessary.
  • Interact with physician offices and third parties to obtain necessary paperwork.
  • Update electronic or paper patient charts, obtain signatures, file paperwork, and notify clinical associates of patient arrival.
  • Answer the multi-line phone system, screen calls, and direct them to appropriate office associates.
  • Provide general office and clerical support, including faxing documentation and completing disability, FMLA, attorney request, record release, and industrial claims paperwork.
  • Work industrial claims in the EMR, including attaching dictation and adding diagnosis allowances and authorization numbers.
  • Organize and file patient charts, including scanning and tracking information into the EMR.
  • Attend staff meetings and continuing in-house education seminars.
  • Sort, distribute, and mail transcription.
  • Order and stock office supplies.
  • Ensure office equipment is clean and well-maintained.
  • Provide support to staff members as assigned.
  • Perform duties with focus on safety, quality, and efficiency as part of a High Reliability Organization.
