Job summary

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists, PC is seeking a friendly Patient Service Representative for our Physical Therapy department. You’ll greet patients, check in, verify information, collect co-pays, schedule appointments, and support clinical staff to ensure a positive patient experience.

We value strong communication, attention to detail, and experience with EMR/PM systems. This front-desk role is full-time, 40 hours per week, with early morning hours in a fast-paced medical office.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years in customer service, preferably in medical receptionist role.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Exceptional customer service skills required.
• Experience with an EMR/PM system.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

• General reception to include greeting patients and answering phone.
• Check-in patients and verify appointment and billing information.
• Schedule appointments.
• Collect co-pays and co-insurance.
• New Patient Intake & Registration: Review paperwork for completeness.
• Input patient demographic information in computer system.
• Review benefits with patient.
• Review missed appointment policy with patient.
• Set-up FOTO Intake Survey.
• Check-out patients and schedule follow-up appointments per the clinician’s instructions.
• Assist Clinical staff with follow-up FOTO status surveys.
• Assist Central Billing Office (CBO) with Medical Records Request per Policy & Procedure.
• Monitor/Track Plans of Care (POC’s) for Certification.
• Log discharged patients in computer system.
• Scan documentation, prescriptions, protocols, flow sheets, HEP’s, and other information into the patient (electronic) medical records.
• Maintain Active Patient statistics and scheduled appointments.
• Other responsibilities as needed.
