Job summary

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists, PC is seeking a friendly Patient Service Representative to join our front desk. You will greet patients, check them in, verify appointments, and set a positive tone from the moment they arrive.

You will handle scheduling, collect co-pays, review benefits, input demographics into our EMR/PM system, and support the billing office with routine tasks. Strong communication and organization are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum two years of customer service experience, preferably one year receptionist in medical office.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Exceptional customer service, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience with an EMR/PM system.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task in a high-volume environment; fast-paced.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and answer phone.
• Check-in patients and verify appointment and billing information.
• Schedule appointments.
• Collect co-pays and co-insurance.
• New Patient Intake & Registration and review paperwork.
• Input patient demographics into the computer system.
• Review benefits with patient and missed appointment policy.
• Set-up FOTO Intake Survey.
• Check-out patients and schedule follow-up appointments per clinician’s instructions.
• Assist Clinical staff with follow-up FOTO status surveys.
• Assist Central Billing Office with Medical Records Request per Policy & Procedure.
• Monitor/Track Plans of Care for Certification.
• Log discharged patients in computer system.
• Scan documentation into the patient (electronic) medical records.
• Maintain Active Patient statistics and scheduled appointments.
• Log discharged patients in computer system.
• Other responsibilities as needed.
