Job summary

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists on Oswego Road in Liverpool, NY, is seeking a friendly Patient Service Representative for our Physical Therapy department. In this front-desk role, you will greet patients, check them in, and help set a positive tone from arrival.

40 hours a week with shift times; you will verify appointments and billing, schedule follow-ups, collect co-pays, review benefits, support the clinical and billing teams, and maintain accurate patient records in the EMR system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of two years of customer service experience, preferably in a medical setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience with an EMR/PM system.
• Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

• General reception, greeting patients and answering the phone.
• Check-in patients and verify appointment and billing information.
• Schedule appointments.
• Collect co-pays and co-insurance.
• Review paperwork for completeness.
• Review benefits with patient.
• Review missed appointment policy with patient.
• Set-up FOTO Intake Survey.
• Check-out patients and schedule follow-up appointments per clinician instructions.
• Assist Clinical staff with follow-up FOTO status surveys.
• Assist Central Billing Office with Medical Records Request per Policy & Procedure.
• Monitor/Track Plans of Care for Certification.
• Scan documentation into the patient electronic medical records.
• Maintain Active Patient statistics and scheduled appointments.
• Other responsibilities as needed.

We are looking for a Patient Service Representative to join the team in our Physical Therapy department! We're looking for an outgoing, welcoming Patient Service Representative to be the first face our patients see!

In this front desk role, you'll greet patients as they arrive, check them in, and help set the tone for a positive experience from the moment they walk through our doors.

40 hours per week. Hours range - 6:30am-6pm Monday-Thursday and 6:30am-4pm Friday

Responsibilities

• Other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of two years of experience in customer service setting, preferably one year receptionist experience in a medical office.
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Experience working with an EMR/PM required;
• Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail;
• Quick thinker with ability to pivot in a fast-paced environment;
• Ability to multi-task in a high-volume environment is a must;
