Job summary

PathGroup is seeking a Patient Services Technician under the direction of the area supervisor to perform daily patient service activities in the PSC or in-office PST. You will interact with clients, patients, and PathGroup personnel in a professional manner and perform phlebotomy and specimen processing following established procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Phlebotomist Certification preferred (Required in Louisiana).
• At least 1 year of prior job-related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers appropriately. Treat all customers in a courteous manner.
• Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Collects specimens according to established procedures. Explains venipuncture and specimen collection to patients; reduces anxiety.
• Disposes of blood or biohazard fluids in accordance with laws and policies.
• Completes requisitions accurately in PathConnect and other PathGroup systems.
• Enters patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information; verifies order details.
• Matches requisition forms to specimen tubes; prepares, labels, centrifuges, and freezes specimens as required.
• Packages and stores specimens for transport; maintains specimen integrity and temperature.
