Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a Phlebotomy/Med Lab Technician for the Dot House Lab per diem schedule. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, specimen handling, LIS operations, and ensuring quality customer service and safety.

The role requires a high school diploma and preferred NAACLS phlebotomy training with phlebotomy or POC testing experience. ASCP certification is preferred; strong English communication and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• NAACLS-accredited phlebotomy program preferred.
• Phlebotomy and point-of-care testing experience preferred.
• Certification/registration through ASCP or similar body preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs point-of-care waived testing and maintains instruments.
• Monitors temperatures and conducts scheduled equipment maintenance.
• Completes documentation logs and communicates with supervisor.
• Uses LIS for order entry, inquiry, crediting, and related tasks.
• Recognizes instrument or method issues and reports them promptly.
• Performs quality control activities per policy and procedures.
• Notifies stakeholders of Critical Alert Values with documentation.
• Performs venipuncture and collects timed specimens as per policy.
• Ensures proper patient identification and specimen labeling.
