Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a Laboratory Technician Assistant (clinical lab assistant/phlebotomist) for a part-time 32-hour work week, 2:30pm-11:00pm, with every other weekend. The role supports daily workflow, trains LTAs and students, and coordinates activities across shifts.

The LTA will perform venipunctures, specimen processing, LIS-related tasks, and help maintain safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy experience and lab experience required.
• Phlebotomy training program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Train new LTAs and students; maintain competency checklists.
• Coordinate and monitor activities of LTAs on shifts.
• Distribute work assignments and liaise with departments.
• Perform specimen processing and venipuncture per policy.
• Ensure safe handling of specimens and PPE compliance.
• Maintain accurate records in laboratory information systems.
