Bassett Healthcare Network in Cooperstown, NY is seeking a Laboratory Support Technician who performs blood specimen collection for adults and children, orders tests in the LIS, processes specimens, and ensures quality while complying with HIPAA.

You will identify patients, label samples, and deliver STAT specimens, while assisting with training and maintaining turnaround times in a busy lab environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, required.
• 1 year of experience in similar capacity, preferred but not required.
• CPT-A Phlebotomy Certification (CPT) from training in a formal phlebotomy program, preferred.

Responsabilités

• Identifies patients and verifies identity before specimen collection.
• Collects venous and capillary specimens from all ages and labels them properly.
• Prepares specimens for testing and ensures specimen integrity for LIS entry.
• Delivers STAT and urgent specimens promptly and maintains turnaround times.
• Assists with training of new staff and follows hospital policies and procedures.
