Job summary

Bassett Healthcare Network is seeking a Laboratory Support Technician to perform blood collection for adult and pediatric patients, process tests in the LIS and Epic systems, and ensure specimen integrity and timely delivery to testing labs.

Responsibilities include patient interaction, proper labeling, adherence to HIPAA and lab policies, and assisting with training of new staff in a patient-focused, safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPT-A Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
• 1 year of related phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood specimen collection from adults and children.
• Order and process tests in the LIS and Epic systems.
• Label and handle specimens to maintain integrity and turnaround times.
• Communicate with patients, explain procedures, and ensure confidentiality.
• Support training of new staff and follow hospital policies.
