Job summary

Bassett Healthcare Network in New York is seeking a Laboratory Support Tech II to collect blood specimens from adult and pediatric patients, process requisitions, and ensure timely testing and reporting in the LIS.

You will train staff, verify patient identity, maintain specimen integrity, and support daily operations, including after-hours coverage. A strong focus on HIPAA and quality aligns with our patient-centered mission.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year experience as an LST required; two years preferred.
• CPT-A Phlebotomy Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs blood specimen collection on adult and pediatric patients (venous, capillary, and blood culture).
• Orders tests in LIS, processes requisitions, and prepares samples for testing.
• Verifies patient identity and ensures proper labeling and specimen integrity.
• Trains and assesses new staff; acts as a resource for daily operations.
• Occasionally covers additional hours or shifts as needed.
