Job summary

Bassett Healthcare Network is seeking a Laboratory Support Technician II to collect blood specimens for adults and children, enter orders in the LIS, and ensure specimen integrity. The candidate will train new staff, assist with daily operations, and cover shifts as needed. Strong communication and multitasking skills are essential for success in this patient‑facing role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPT-A Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
• Minimum one year experience as an LST required; two years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood specimen collection (adult and pediatric) and label specimens.
• Enter orders in LIS and process requisitions accurately.
• Ensure specimen quality and proper labeling; maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA.
• Train and assess new staff; support daily operations and cross‑coverage.
• Communicate clearly with patients and staff; meet turnaround times.
