Job summary

Bassett Healthcare Network seeks a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to perform and supervise laboratory tests, quality control, and equipment maintenance in support of patient care. The role includes reporting results, ensuring accuracy, and working within established policies.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree, NYSDOH licensure or eligibility, and at least 1 year of laboratory experience. ASCP certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Qualified as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist per NYSDOH regulations is required.
• ASCP or other nationally recognized certification is preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience in standard laboratory methodologies is required.
• Licensure by NYSED as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist required, or licensure-eligible with a limited permit or limited license as CLT with full licensure received before expiration of limited/provisional permit, required.

Responsibilities

• Performs and verifies (reports) laboratory tests and/or prepares products for transfusion on acceptable specimens to obtain accurate data in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
• Performs quality control (QC) processes and proficiency testing (PT) as assigned.
• Maintains laboratory equipment, instruments, reagents and/or supplies and documentation required in performance of job responsibilities.
• Follows all institution and department policies and procedures.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
• Direct, review, and/or verify work of other clinical laboratory personnel, students, and/or nursing staff as assigned.
• Any Clinical Laboratory Technologist meeting NYSDOH qualifications of supervisor may be required to perform supervisory functions in the absence of the regular supervisor.
• Performs other duties within their scope of practice as assigned.
