Job summary

Kingfisher Recruiting in Austin, TX is seeking a contract Phlebotomist to join our floating team across the Austin area. The role includes blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, and data recording, with a 3-month projected duration and potential for permanent placement.

The schedule is Mon-Fri, 8am–5pm, with possible additional daytime hours. Mileage expenses are paid and a clean driving record with reliable transportation is required.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 1 year of experience

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain in a clear but courteous manner the venipuncture process and other specimen collection as required.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples according to required temperature and transport to maintain integrity.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
