Job summary

Ashton North LLC is seeking a contract Phlebotomist to cover Austin area locations, floating as needed. Schedule is M-F, 8am-5pm, with potential for additional daytime hours. The assignment is 3 months with potential for permanent placement.

The candidate should have a valid state phlebotomy certification and at least 1 year of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Mileage reimbursement is provided.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 1 year of experience

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection as required.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples according to required temperature and protocol.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
