Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum six months experience as a phlebotomist; one year preferable.
• Minimum twelve (12) months of experience in a medical or health care environment preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform pheresis procedures and plasma collection per SOPs, including donor setup, monitoring and disconnect.
• Perform venipuncture to begin the pheresis process in accordance with FDA guidelines.
• Evaluate donor vein performance and adjust to expedite donation time and ensure product quality and donor safety.
• Educate new donors on therapeutic products, screening, health tests, appointment system, and center policies.
• Monitor donor for reactions and assist or notify staff as needed.
• Record incidents and donor data using a PDA and electronic donor information management system.
• Calibrate and verify maintenance per SOPs; troubleshoot equipment alarms or donor issues.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and document incidents; replace equipment as needed.
• Monitor donor flow on the floor and communicate any issues to supervisors.
• Collect arm samples or whole blood samples for testing.
• Maintain confidentiality of donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs; bilingual skills may be required.
