Job summary

CSL is seeking a Plasma Center Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and manage the pheresis process in a compliant, donor-focused environment. You will set up donors, monitor during donation, and complete disconnect procedures according to SOPs and FDA guidelines.

The role requires strong attention to donor safety, accurate data recording, and the ability to educate donors about plasma products. Experience in healthcare settings is preferred; bilingual skills may be required depending on center

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 12 months experience in a medical or health care environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the efficient and effective collection of plasma from donors by performing venipuncture, monitoring the pheresis process and following SOPs.
• In compliance with SOPs, performs all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor set-up, donor monitoring and donor disconnect.
• In compliance with SOPs and FDA guidelines, performs venipuncture on donors to begin pheresis process.
• Evaluates vein performance of the donor to identify possible problems and expedites donation time and product quality while ensuring donor safety.
• May educate new donors on therapeutic products made from donated plasma and answers donor questions.
• Maintains alertness to donor reactions and assists with reactions or notifies staff.
• Uses PDA to record incidents during pheresis such as alarms and donor adverse events.
• Performs calibrations and verifies maintenance as outlined in SOPs; resolves complex equipment alarms or donor issues.
• Troubleshoots equipment failures and creates incident documentation.
• Monitors donor flow to ensure continuous turnover and communicates issues to leadership.
• Collects arm samples or whole blood samples for testing and records donor data in the donor information system.
• Understands policies for hyper immune programs where applicable; maintains safe, clean work environment and adequate supplies.
• Follows HSE and OSHA policies and promotes safety; maintains confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas; bilingual skills may be required.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
