Job summary

CSL is seeking a donor pheresis technician in San Antonio, TX to prepare donors and equipment, monitor the pheresis process, and ensure accurate data recording. Laboratory environment experience and good math skills are required, with the possibility of bilingual duties depending on organizational needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience in a medical or health provider environment or equivalent education/experience.
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process.
• Prepares the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitors the donor and the pheresis process, responds to alarms or signals during the process.
• Disconnects the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintains alertness to any donor reactions during or after the pheresis process and notifies appropriate staff.
• Uses a PDA to record incidents, machine alerts, alarms, volume variances and donor adverse events.
• Links equipment and consumables used in the pheresis process to the donor in the system.
• Alerts Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensures accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system following SOPs.
• Understands policies related to hyper immune programs at the center when applicable.
• Maintains a clean, efficient work environment and ensures supplies are available; follows HSE and OSHA policies; promotes safety.
• Maintains confidentiality of personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
• Bilingual skills may be required at the organization's discretion.
