Job summary

CSL in Champaign, IL is seeking a donor pheresis technician responsible for preparing the donor and equipment for pheresis, monitoring the process, and recording incidents using a PDA. The role includes safeguarding donor safety, documenting data in the donor information system, and following all HSE and OSHA guidelines.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus at least 3 months of related health care experience and basic math skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process.
• Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and the pheresis process; respond to alarms or signals during the process.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain alertness to donor reactions and notify appropriate staff.
• Record incidents and equipment data in the PDA during the pheresis process.
• Link equipment and supplies to the donor in the PDA.
• Alert supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensure accurate donor data is recorded in the electronic donor information system.
• Follow HSE and OSHA policies; promote safety in all actions.
• Maintain confidentiality of donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas.
