Job summary

LifeLine Animal Project is seeking an Adoption Counselor to help match families with pets and guide them through the adoption process. This role involves counseling the public about pets, reviewing applications, collecting fees, and updating the shelter software to complete adoptions.

The position supports education on adoption programs, participates in events, and maintains animal welfare standards while upholding LifeLine’s values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
• 18 years or older.
• 1+ years experience in animal-related field or animal sheltering preferred.
• Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or a similar role is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Guide adopters through the application process and match potential adopters to future pets.
• Answer questions about pets for adoption, including behavior, medical care, and other information.
• Educate adopters about responsible pet ownership, including housetraining and preventive care.
• Assist during adoption events and with animal care to prepare pets for departure.
• Process adoption paperwork and fees, ensuring documentation is complete.
• Maintain shelter operations and front desk duties during high-traffic times.
