Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, dairy and bakery sections, ensuring fresh stock and appealing presentation. You will support inventory control, pricing, and safety compliance while delivering strong customer service and efficient store operations.

You will train staff on stocking, safety, and perishable handling, while maintaining plan‑o‑gram accuracy and coordinating with the Store Manager to meet targets and standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic math calculations.
• Learn and perform cash register functions and generate reports.
• Analyze operating statements for sales, profitability and turn.
• Know cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Know safety, cash, facility and security policies and practices.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong organization and attention to detail.
• Effective interpersonal and written/oral communication.
• Understand safety policies and practices.
• Read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandising guidance.
• Comply with SOPs and company communications.
• Ability to obtain required food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring employee compliance.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using Ads/Planners and order guides.
• Train assigned associates in stocking, presentation, freshness and pricing.
• Train associates in proper and safe handling of food per regulations.
• Record Perishable Markdowns and work with Store Manager on corrective actions.
• Record inventory levels as requested by Store Support Center.
• Address customer needs and requests efficiently and promptly.
• Maintain daily contact with customers to understand merchandise expectations.
• Ensure sanitation standards and train associates on Cleaning Schedule.
• Assist with other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
