Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Perishables Department Lead to oversee produce, dairy, meat, bakery, and related areas under the Store Manager. You will help maintain stock levels, ensure freshness, and support safe handling across perishable categories.

You will train associates, enforce company policies, and drive strong customer service while protecting assets and complying with food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Supervisory or lead experience in grocery operations is preferred.
• Local/state food handling certifications as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining perishable stock levels and inventory accuracy.
• Ensure customer service standards and merchandise presentation are maintained.
• Train associates in proper perishable handling, stocking, and safety practices.
• Record markdowns and manage pricing to minimize waste and improve freshness.
• Support cash accountability, security procedures, and store compliance.
